“When I heard Gospel for the first time ..“

In March 2012 again the “100%-Gospel-Workshop-Berlin“ will take place. Ms. Ingrid Arthur (soul singer, The Weather Girls, www.ingrid-arthur.com) will be leading this workshop.

In 2006, Ingrid Arthur had already completed the “100%-Gospel-Workshop-Berlin” for the first time and then again last year, with approx. 100 voices (a mixture of professional singers, choir members and people, who sang Gospel, some for the first time in their lives), as well as known musicians (e.g. Tracey Duncan, Charlyn Hashmi, Jörg Heinrich…). Under her leadership and with the assistance of Ms. Ouida Harding and Pastor Terrance L. Kennedy coming from New York, people of all ages have learned to sing Gospel songs with so much love and passion in a time frame of only half a week, and were able to successfully perform the studied music at two final concerts. This workshop finances itself from petty expenses of the workshop participants, a small fee at one of the concerts and from private funds of Ingrid Arthur herself.

The main interest of Ingrid Arthur is primarily to learn why we sing and how to sing the Gospel as well as experiencing the Gospel. Music speaks louder than words and brings people together from all over the world. This is the origin of her vision and the foundation for the “100%-Gospel-Workshop-Berlin”.

Her dream is to bring a workshop to life in Germany - in Berlin - once a year, which in the long run shall take place analogously to the one in the United States, the GMWA (Gospel Music Workshop of America), also held once a year for one week, which can be developed to a European workshop in Berlin (GMWB - Gospel Music Workshop of Berlin). A connection to New York and Japan, where Pastor Terrance L. Kennedy leads his yearly Gospel workshop is more than likely.

Due to her wonderful and international connections, it is planned for the future to invite well-known singers, e.g. The Hawkins, Cissy Houston to partake in these workshops and well known musicians as well.

Not only can one learn about their voices individually and collectively, but also musicians can learn the heart of playing Gospel.
A part of the revenues will be donated to a social establishment in Berlin.
